Search Marion County Traffic Court Records Online

The statewide MyCase portal is the main free tool for searching Marion County traffic court records. You can search by name or case number without creating an account. Results show the charge, scheduled court dates, case status, and any judgment or fine on record. MyCase covers cases filed through the Marion County courts that participate in the Odyssey system.

For driving record information, the Indiana BMV system at mybmv.com lets you access your own driving history. Court case records and BMV driving records are different things. The court record shows what happened in the case. The BMV record shows what was reported to the state and how it affects your license and point total.

Marion County has nine township small claims courts that handle some traffic matters separately from the main Traffic Division. Those courts are in Center, Decatur, Franklin, Lawrence, Perry, Pike, Warren, Washington, and Wayne townships. Each has its own phone number and process. If your ticket was issued by an officer working within a specific township, the case may be in that township's court rather than the main county traffic court at 675 Justice Way.

Marion County Traffic Division - Contact and Location

The main Marion County Traffic Division is at 675 Justice Way, Indianapolis, IN 46203. You can also handle some transactions at the City-County Building, Room W122. The Traffic Division phone number is 317-327-5738. For questions about a specific ticket, you can also email MCOURTS-MAG-IFOV@indy.gov. That inbox handles questions about Marion County traffic infractions and violations.

The City of Indianapolis website and the Indiana Courts local page for Marion County both carry information about the courts, their locations, and contact numbers. Paying a Marion County Traffic Ticket Online

Marion County offers online payment through the Indianapolis city payment portal. You can pay using your name and date of birth, or by entering your ticket number directly. The system can take up to 48 hours to reflect a payment, so if you check your case status right after paying and it still shows unpaid, wait a day before calling to confirm.

Tickets in Marion County are due within 60 days of when you receive them. If you miss that window without contacting the court, additional penalties may apply and your case could be referred for further action. The 60-day deadline is firm, so it is worth checking your ticket as soon as you get it and deciding quickly whether you will pay or appear to contest.

The statewide Indiana Courts ePay system is another option for some case types. Check both the Indianapolis city portal and the state ePay site to see which accepts your specific ticket. Some township court cases may need to be paid directly through that township's court rather than through either of the main online systems.

Note: In-person payments at 675 Justice Way or at Room W122 of the City-County Building are also accepted for those who prefer to pay face to face or in cash.

Deferral Programs for Marion County Traffic Violations

Marion County offers a Safe Driver Deferral program for eligible drivers. The deferral costs $229.00. To qualify, you must not have had any moving violations in the past six months, and you must agree not to get any new moving violations for the next six months after enrolling. If you meet both conditions, the infraction can be dismissed rather than recorded as a judgment on your case.

CDL holders are not eligible for the Safe Driver Deferral. Neither are drivers who received their ticket in a school zone or work zone, those who passed a stopped school bus, drivers with no proof of insurance, anyone cited for speeding 25 or more miles per hour over the limit, drivers cited for aggressive driving, or people who received multiple violations in the same traffic stop. For questions about eligibility or to apply, contact MCPO.Ticket@indy.gov.

A separate Paperwork or Equipment Deferral is available for fix-it tickets, meaning violations where the problem can be corrected. This applies to things like expired registration or a broken headlight. If you can show proof that you fixed the issue, you may be able to get that kind of ticket dismissed. Submit proof by email to MCPO.Ticket@indy.gov within 60 days. This option is also not available to CDL holders for most violation types.

These deferral programs operate under the discretion of the Marion County Prosecutor's Office. The statute governing infraction procedures at Indiana Code 34-28-5 sets the framework that courts follow, and the Prosecutor's programs work within that structure. Not every ticket qualifies, but it is worth asking if you have a clean record and a straightforward violation.

Note: Deferral applications for Marion County must be submitted by email to MCPO.Ticket@indy.gov before the 60-day response deadline on your ticket.

Contesting a Marion County Traffic Ticket

To deny a traffic ticket in Marion County, sign the denial section on your ticket, which is labeled "Deny" or "Denial," and mail it to Marion County Traffic Court, 675 Justice Way, Indianapolis, IN 46203. Do this before your response deadline. The court will then schedule a hearing date and notify you. You do not pay the fine before the hearing if you plan to deny the violation.

At the hearing, both you and the officer who issued the ticket present your sides. The judge decides whether the violation is proven. If the court finds you liable under Indiana Code Title 9, a judgment for the fine amount is entered. You can also request a continuance if you need more time to prepare, though the court has discretion over whether to grant it. Showing up is the most important step. Failing to appear can result in a default judgment against you and potential license consequences.
