Lawrence Traffic Court Quick Facts
Which Court Handles Lawrence Traffic Tickets
Lawrence does not have its own city or municipal traffic court. All traffic violations issued within Lawrence city limits go to Marion County Traffic Court in Indianapolis. The court is located at the Community Justice Campus, 675 Justice Way, Indianapolis, IN 46203. The phone number for the Marion County Traffic Division is (317) 327-5738.
This setup is common for cities within Marion County. Because Lawrence is part of the county, it falls under the same court structure as Indianapolis and other Marion County communities. The fact that Lawrence City Hall is at 9001 East 59th Street and can be reached at (317) 545-6191 does not mean the city handles its own traffic cases. For traffic matters, your point of contact is the county court in Indianapolis, not City Hall.
If your ticket is more than 120 days old and you have not resolved it, email MCOURTS-MAG-IFOV@indy.gov before trying to pay. The court may have taken additional action on old tickets, and you will want to confirm the current status before sending any payment.
The city services page at cityoflawrence.org covers local departments and can help point you to the right office if you have questions about local ordinances separate from traffic court.

How to Search Lawrence Traffic Court Records Online
The Indiana courts public portal, MyCase, lets you search traffic cases by name, case number, or citation number. Since Lawrence traffic cases go to Marion County, they show up under Marion County in the system. You do not need a login. Results show the case status, any upcoming dates, and amounts due. This is the first step if you are unsure whether a ticket has been filed yet.
After a citation is issued, it usually takes a few days to appear in the system. If you cannot find it right away, wait and check again. You can also call the Marion County Traffic Division at (317) 327-5738 to ask about the case directly. Staff there can confirm whether the case is on file and what the current balance is.
Note: New tickets may take five to seven business days to appear in MyCase after the officer files the citation with the court.
Pay a Traffic Ticket from Lawrence
The Marion County online payment portal at indy.gov is the main tool for paying traffic tickets online. You will need your ticket number and other identifying details. Payment is due within 60 days of receiving the ticket. If you miss the due date, the case can escalate and your license may be at risk.
You can also pay in person at two locations. The first is the Community Justice Campus at 675 Justice Way. The second is Room W122 at the City-County Building in downtown Indianapolis. If you prefer to mail your payment, send it to Marion County Traffic Division, 675 Justice Way, Indianapolis, IN 46203. Make sure to include your case or ticket number so the payment is applied to the right account.
Some tickets are labeled "summons." If your ticket says summons, you must appear in court. Paying online is not an option for those. Show up on the date listed or contact the court before the date to ask about your options.

Safe Driver Deferral Program
Marion County offers two types of deferral for qualifying drivers. The Safe Driver Deferral costs $229 as a one-time fee. To be eligible, you must have had no moving violations in the past six months and you must agree to no new violations for the next six months after enrolling. CDL holders are not eligible for this program.
The Paperwork or Equipment Deferral is different. It applies when your ticket was for something fixable, like an expired registration or a broken tail light. If you can show proof of correction, you may be able to get the ticket dismissed or reduced. This deferral is also not available to commercial drivers.
Certain violations are not eligible for any deferral, including school zone and work zone infractions, passing a stopped school bus, driving without insurance, speeding 25 or more miles per hour over the limit, and aggressive driving. To apply, go to indy.gov and look for the deferral option, or email MCPO.Ticket@indy.gov with your ticket number and contact info.
