The full Clark County Clerk of Courts page provides contact information, office hours, and links to other court services available to residents.

Traffic citations can also be searched using the traffic department's direct contact: (812) 285-6399 or email traffic@clarkcounty.in.gov. If you have a specific case question or can't locate a record online, the traffic department is the right starting point rather than the general clerk's line.

Note: New tickets may take five to seven business days to appear in MyCase after the officer files the citation with the Clark County Clerk's Office.

How to Pay a Clark County Traffic Ticket

Clark County gives drivers four ways to pay a traffic ticket. Each method has its own rules.

Online payment goes through the Indiana Courts ePay portal. Wait at least five to seven days after receiving your citation before trying to pay online, since it takes that long for newer tickets to appear in the system. A convenience fee applies to card payments. Online payment is available around the clock.

In-person payment is accepted at the Clark County Judicial Center, 501 E Court Avenue, Jeffersonville, IN 47130. Cash, money orders, cashier's checks, and credit or debit cards are all accepted. Personal checks are not. If you pay by card in person, convenience fees still apply. Bring your ticket or cause number so staff can locate your file quickly.

Mail payments go to Clark County Traffic Violations, 501 E Court Ave., Jeffersonville, IN 47130. Use a money order or cashier's check only. Include your cause number and your UTT number on the instrument. If you want a receipt mailed back, include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your payment. Do not mail cash or personal checks.

Phone payments are accepted by credit or debit card. Call the traffic department at (812) 285-6399 to make a phone payment. Convenience fees apply here as well. This option is useful if you want to speak with someone but don't need to visit the courthouse in person.

Note: CDL operators do not receive the standard 30-day grace period after a court date that other drivers get. CDL holders should pay or respond before their listed hearing date to avoid complications with their commercial license.

Clark County Traffic Violation Fine Amounts

Clark County has a published fine schedule for common traffic violations. All speeding violations carry a fine of $175.00. Other moving violations are set at $174.00. Non-moving violations, including expired plates, expired license, handicap violations, and equipment violations, also run $174.00. Seat belt violations are $25.00.

If multiple violations come from the same incident, the maximum additional charge for each extra violation is $35.00. So even if an officer writes two or three citations at once, the combined cost is capped on the additional charges beyond the first. These amounts are for the base fine and do not include court costs, which are added separately.

Infraction Deferral carries a fee of $192.50 if the Prosecutor accepts your application. That fee covers a six-month deferral period during which the violation is held in abeyance. If you complete the deferral without a new violation, the original charge is dismissed. If you pick up another ticket during the period, the deferral can be revoked and you end up with both violations on your record.

To apply for a deferral in Clark County, contact the Prosecutor's Office at 812-285-6264 or visit www.clarkprosecutor.org. Not every violation or every driver qualifies. The Prosecutor's Office makes that determination after reviewing the request.
